Getting "Down" in Music City

After doing a few of these photo essays, I have to admit they're quite subjective. I can't claim to bring you all the relevant info on basses. Mainly I just try and give a flavor of what it's like to be there. I walk around, talk to old friends, take a few pictures, people want to take pictures of me and them as well, as you can see! It's not that I'm dying to be in so many pictures, I think some people get a kick out of standing next to some huge guy! I admit, some of the pictures are pretty weird.

Enough excuses, let's look at a few pix, OK?

Tourist Trap

The gentleman seated in front of this tourist shop is a pretty dern tacky animated dummy with a Dixie neckerchief. He sits there all day in the sweltering heat, lifting his right arm, wavin' at ya.

"Y'all come in here and buy a few postcards!"

NAMM Buddies

NAMM shows are a good place to hang with your peers you may not have seen since the last show. Here's Mike Tobias, Rudy Pensa (Rudy's Music on 48th St. in NYC), and Bill Bartolini in Bill's booth.

Gordy and the EMG-VMC

The problem with photo essays, is that you need to have things big enough to see in a low-res screen shot, which is kinda tough when you make circuits and pickups. Even if the circuit Gordy's holding is really cool, it just doesn't make for very sexy posing. But Gordy's a cool guy, and he just got married, so cut him some slack!

Spector Gets His Name Back

This last February, after many years of trying Stuart Spector got the name Spector back from the whole Kramer bankruptcy deal. Here he is with a US-made Spector JJ bolt-on.

more pix tomorrow!
